Cavs vs Spurs: NBA Summer League Recap
The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the San Antonio Spurs Sunday 82-70 in their second summer league game out in Las Vegas.
2013 No. 1 draft pick F Anthony Bennett continues to show progress this summer league after having a struggling rookie season. Bennett posted a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds. Rookie G Andrew Wiggins scored 13 points, but on 3-11 shooting.
Former Ohio State F DeShaun Thomas, who was drafted by the Spurs in the 2013 NBA draft, led the Spurs in scoring with 21 points.
Kyle Anderson, the Spurs 2014 NBA first-round draft and G out of UCLA, struggled from the floor, only scoring two points on 1-7 shooting, but did have 6 rebounds.
Cleveland’s Will Cherry, an undrafted guard out of the University of Montana, who scored 14 points, has been a surprise outside of the Cavaliers players from last season, including Bennett and Mathew Dellavedova.
The Cavaliers improved to 2-0 in summer league, while the Spurs are now 1-1 after they beat the Sacramento Kings 85-69 in their first game.
